A Los Angeles-based animal welfare nonprofit is appealing for food donations and funding as shelters overcrowded with large dogs are running out of food.
Officials with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Los Angeles (spcaLA) said the organization has seen an influx of huskies, shepherds and other large dogs over the past few months.
Miriam Devonport, vice president of spcaLA, said: “We’ve had a great summer with lots of big dogs, but to be honest, they just eat us up at home and at home.” We explained the average weight of dogs kept at spcaLA. The shelter weighs approximately 50 pounds.
