Los Angeles braces for the “No Kings” protest weekend

Los Angeles and other major cities across the country are calling for widespread demonstrations against the Trump administration on Saturday as the federal government is expanding its aggressive immigration crackdown across Southern California.

As President Trump prepares to celebrate his 79th birthday in an unprecedented military parade at the Capitol, many people across the country gather for “king” demonstrations to express their opposition to Trump’s administration’s policies.

At least dozens of different groups are planning to protest in the Los Angeles area on Saturday. An eight-day downtown demonstration then denounced a federal operation aimed at chasing and capturing undocumented immigrants in jobs and city streets for eight consecutive days.

Hundreds of Marines and National Guard defend federal property and immigration enforcement operations in the area, government officials said. The federal government arrived in the area early in the week after protests became violent, left Waymo cars burned, smashing downtown properties and smashing anti-Trump and customs enforcement graffiti.

Tensions between federal immigration officials and California politicians on Thursday were reported by Senator Alex Padilla. Kristi Noem was talking.

Speaking to reporters after the press conference, Padilla called on people to peacefully protest against the actions of the Trump administration.

“There’s a lot of concern, a lot of tension, a lot of anxiety,” Padilla said. “I ask everyone to protest peacefully, peacefully, as if they are trying to listen to that press conference calmly and peacefully and ask questions.”

The attack targets Home Depot, churches, farms, retail centres and other locations. They will also surprise concerns among local officials that the management is forcing immigrants to hide, and will ultimately hurt the local economy.

As immigration lawsuits continue, Los Angeles Police Department officials are reporting that they have managed to eliminate violence and property damage at the city’s core thanks to a curfew from 8pm to 6am this week.

The indefinitely imposed curfew covers downtown civic centers, including City Hall, Maine County Criminal Court, LAPD Headquarters and federal buildings.

Times staff writers Nathan Solis, Andrea Castillo, Laura J. Nelson, Marie Sanford and Richard Winton contributed to this report.
