Voters in three Los Angeles City Council districts will decide Tuesday who will serve at City Hall for the next four years.
Seven seats were up for re-election this year, with four candidates: Nitya Raman (CD4), Imedullah Padilla (CD6), Marquise Harris Dawson (CD8), and John Lee (CD12). He achieved more than 50% in the primary election and avoided running for office. -off.
In District 2, the race begins with incumbent Paul Krekorian unable to run due to term limits. The district includes parts of the San Fernando Valley, including North Hollywood, Sun Valley, and the Van Nuys area. Former state representative Adlin Nazarian and small business owner Jillian Burgos are vying for the seat.
In Ward 10, incumbent City Councilor Heather Hutt is running for office for the first time since her appointment following the 2021 indictment of Mark Ridley-Thomas on bribery and other charges. Mr Hutt is facing attorney Grace Yu. This district includes neighborhoods such as Arlington Heights, Koreatown, and Mid-City.
In District 14, incumbent Kevin de Leon faces a challenge from tenant rights attorney Isabel Jurado. Mr. de Leon’s re-election will be his first since 2022, when audio recordings of him discussing redistricting with other legislators were leaked while using racist language. The district includes Boyle Heights, Downtown Los Angeles, and Northeast Los Angeles.
