A Los Angeles County pet store was left in ruins after a customer accidentally drove his pickup truck into the building, scattering staff and feathers.

Just before 10 a.m., officers with the El Monte Police Department responded to a report of a crash and structural damage at Wes’ Pets and Feeds, 4424 North Peck Road, authorities confirmed to KTLA.

Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows a white Ford F-150 fully inside the building. The building was cordoned off with yellow police tape and red-tagged by city officials, meaning it is currently unsafe to enter.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department was also called to the scene, but fortunately no one was injured in the incident.

Owners Mario and Mabel Flores said they were unable to enter the nearly 100-year-old building and it was unclear whether any animals, mainly chickens and other poultry, were injured in the incident. Ta. It has been in operation for the past eight years.

Several chickens, which appeared to be intact, were seen in a shed next to the store, and a box containing baby chickens was also found outside the damaged building.

“I’m just grateful that everyone got out safely,” Mabel said. “There were definitely people standing in front of them. They heard the noise and were able to jump out of the way.”

No arrests were made and no citations were issued, police said.
