The Palisades Fire in the Pacific Palisades area started Tuesday morning and has grown to more than 22,600 acres. The 14,000-acre Eaton Fire in Altadena destroyed homes and businesses. The Hearst Fire broke out late Tuesday in Sylmar, in Los Angeles’ northern San Fernando Valley. Thursday’s Kenneth Fire, which forced the evacuation of 1,052 people in West Hills, was downgraded. Eleven deaths have been reported as a result of the fire.
New evacuation orders have been issued for the weekend due to Los Angeles County’s largest wildfire.
The Palisades Fire spread to the east into the Mandeville Canyon area and spread toward homes on the west side of Highway 405 and Sepulveda Pass. Evacuation orders and warnings remained in effect for other fires in the region, including the Eaton Fire in the hills northeast of Los Angeles.
Palisades Fire: Estimated at 22,660 acres in Pacific Palisades. Eaton Fire: Estimated 14,117 acres in Altadena area. Kenneth Fire is estimated at 1,052 people in the West Hills. The Hearst Fire in Sylmar has an estimated 799 fires.
