Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is working with Gov. Gavin Newsom to reject “bureaucracy” and regulations to help rebuild those who lost their homes and businesses in the city’s wildfires.
In an executive order issued Monday night, Bass coordinated debris removal and streamlined the rebuilding process in affected areas across the city.

“This unprecedented natural disaster requires an unprecedented response to help rebuild homes, businesses and communities,” Bass said. “This order is the first step in cutting through red tape and bureaucracy and organizing around urgency, common sense, and compassion. We will do everything in our power to bring Angelenos home.”
This order requires:
Streamline the debris removal process and reduce weather risk in affected areas Expedite typically cumbersome regulatory processes such as permits, CEQA discretionary reviews, and other reviews 1,400 homes available across the city Requires all city agencies to submit within one week a list of additional relief and funding needed from the state and federal government.
The order is similar to one issued by Newsom over the weekend. The order also waived CEQA review as the Housing and Business Order calls for the rapid reconstruction of its structures.
Streamlining these processes has been a priority for city and state officials since the wildfire crisis began last week.
