A Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle officer was rushed to the hospital after he exited the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway in Sepulveda Pass.
Details are extremely limited and the exact cause of the crash is unclear, but authorities say the crash occurred near Skirball Center Drive just after 4 p.m.
Aerial footage of the scene captured by Sky5 showed a large traffic backup as first responders, including medical personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department, surrounded the officer as he lay on a stretcher in a traffic lane.
Paramedics treated the officer before loading him into an ambulance.

Sky5’s Gil Leyvas reported that northbound 405 lanes are completely closed, with backups extending at least as far as the 10 Freeway.
California Highway Patrol officers were also called to the scene after the road closure.
Los Angeles Police Department officials said in an evening update that the officer suffered minor injuries but is expected to recover.
