Police on Thursday arrested a man accused of assaulting multiple women in an attempted carjacking in Los Angeles last week.
Surveillance video shows the suspect assaulting a woman in a downtown Los Angeles and Lincoln Heights parking lot. In both incidents, the women fought him off and fled.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the suspect, identified as Maurice Latorre, 49, approached a woman at a gas station in the 3200 block of North Broadway around 10:40 a.m. Saturday.
Police say the man broke into her car and demanded her keys. The woman was able to push the suspect out of the vehicle. The suspect then fled, police said.

Around 1:50 p.m., the suspect encountered a group of women in the parking lot. According to police, the man again demanded the car keys, struggled with the driver, failed, and fled.
At 4:55 p.m., the suspect approached a woman at another gas station. Security video shows the suspect pulling the victim out of the car, and the victim fighting him off with the help of bystanders and getting back into the car. He fled on a silver bicycle.
A manhunt is underway following an attempted carjacking, and police say the suspect is violent and dangerous.
Details regarding Latorre’s arrest were not disclosed.
According to public records, he lived in Little Bangladesh until 2004, when his residence records were suspended.
