Los Angeles Rams officially release Super Bowl MVP Cooper Cup

The franchise legend is looking for his next home after the Los Angeles Rams officially released wide receiver Coopap on Wednesday afternoon.

A divorce between Kupp and the Rams has long been unanticipated, and the sides were working on trade possibilities before the decision was made to finally release the Super Bowl LVI MVP.

Kupp, 31, was drafted by the eastern Washington Rams in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. A small school standout, he became the shocking engine of Sean McVay’s attack and soon became one of the most explosive and reliable receivers in the NFL.

In 2021, he notched the NFL singleseason record for all-purpose yards with receivers, breaking the league-leading singleseason record. He was named the 2021 NFL Offensive Player of the Year and helped the Rams make the Super Bowl appearances at his stadium.

In Super Bowl LVI, Kup hooked eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns, winding up the Lombardi Trophy in front of a sold-out crowd at Sophie Stadium, picking him as the most valuable player in the game.

His 33 catches during that postseason run are the most ever in NFL playoff history.

Since then, he has struggled to maintain his health, logging less than 12 games per season, failing to meet the same level of advantage that made him famous in LA.

In his absence, shifty slot receiver Pukanakua climbed to the top of the Rams’ depth chart, shattering the record and continuing the Cup legacy as a non-leading underdog receiver who became a security outlet for quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Kupp’s departure has been in work for several weeks, making it even more likely after the team signed six pro bowler Davante Adams.

Kupp has issued a statement on social media. He thanked the Rams organization, its fans and the city for “an incredible memories of eight years” and welcomed him and his family with open arms.

“We talked a lot about the Rams coming back to LA and how they could grow into something special here. And while there was early frustration about putting up shopping from people in LA, we were able to offer moments at the end of the day. “That’s what makes the end of the last eight years so difficult. That’s the end of what we’ve built with you. Thank you for these shared moments.”

He finished fourth in his Rams career in history, third in reception and third in receiving a touchdown. He is one of only eight wide receivers ever named Super Bowl MVP, and is in his latest position.

“This pillar of franchise and community. There’s never something else like No. 10,” the team wrote on social media.

Kupp will be a free agent for the first time in his career and look for the final major payday as he aims to prove that he still has miles left in the tires.

“The next chapter starts now,” Kupp said. “The best hasn’t arrived yet.”
