Yelp has once again released the annual rankings for the domestic “Top 100 Places To Eat To Eat To Places.” Los Angeles restaurants are on the list.
The rankings are determined by Yelp with opinions from the community of online reviewers and highlight a handpicked selection of coast-to-coast eateries in 23 states and DC. – Includes everything from luxury facilities to food trucks. The Yelp list also recognizes all kinds of dishes, from Mexican to French to the Middle East. All of this is certainly better than what we rushed into our mouths while we were calling out to the fridge.
The top spot on Yelp’s 2025 listing is Holbox, a Mexican seafood restaurant located within LA’s Mercadra Paloma on Grand Avenue near the University of Southern California.
“Holbox serves grilled octopus, fish tacos and a variety of sevics made by Michelin-starred chef and owner Gilbert Setina,” reads a Yelp news release. “The restaurant has over five stars reviews, and Yelp users rave reviews for the lively flavors, affordable prices and environmentally friendly practices that make Holbox stand out.”

As in the past few years, California boasts the most restaurants on Yelp’s 2025 list with a whopping 37 entries. Following on are Texas, Nevada and Arizona, with 9, 8 and 7 entries, respectively.
However, please note that Yelp’s 2024 rankings do not necessarily reflect the most referenced restaurants across the platform. Rather, Yelp’s lists were compiled from submissions and suggestions requested by users and compared to the overall amount of ratings and reviews of each business’s Yelp page. According to Yelp’s blog, Yelp’s community manager and “trend experts” have further curated rankings to complete the list.
So, while these restaurants may not be in the top 100 on the platform (in terms of overall ratings and reviews), they are some of the most rave reviews in the country.
They are also undoubtedly much more exciting than our short lunch break, the ones we are planning to inhale while the crumbs fall from our faces.
