Loved people and community members came together to honor Brown Levy, 18, a high school senior who is suspected of being a drunk driver in Manhattan Beach.
A paddle-out was held in Manhattan Beach on Saturday morning. There, many friends and family gathered to grab some waves in Brown’s honor. Many of his friends spoke at events.
“He was the one who brought us all together,” said my friend. “He made us sing, and he brightened us up. He may not be here now, but you can still feel his legacy and we can always live like Brown.”

“The child who gave everyone a free love and asked for nothing in return,” another friend said. “He’s influence can be seen by everyone here today.”
On May 4th, Brown was walking with a friend near the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Ronda Drive.
Manhattan Beach police responded to the scene where Brown’s body was found on the road next to the suspect’s vehicle. He was rushed to the hospital where despite life-saving measures he died of injury.
Driver Jeniabert, 33, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and murder. Her Infinity SUV had broken windshield and significant damage to the hood.
At the time of the crash, court records showed that he was driving on a license that had his belt suspended due to a previous drunk driving arrest in 2023, the Los Angeles Times reported.
In that case, she was sentenced to a year on probation and ordered to pay compensation while her license remains suspended.
Brown, whose family lost his home in the Pallisard fire, was the three-year captain of the Varsity tennis team at Loyola High School. He was scheduled to attend the University of Virginia after graduating.
“He’s the type of tennis player and even if you were in his competition in court, he was friends with everyone,” said his mother, Jennifer Levy.
His family moved to Manhattan Beach four months before Brown was killed.
An early memorial was held on the beach volleyball court, which Braun loves to play. His family was overwhelmed by the number of people who showed up.
“We have hundreds of Manhattan Beach kids there, but we’ve only lived here for four months,” said Brown’s sister, Adele Levy. “It shows the impact Brown has had on people and the types of friends he can make very quickly.”
Many of Braun Levi’s friends spoke at the Manhattan Beach Paddle Out Event held in Teenage Honor on May 10, 2025, and shared his favourite memories on May 10, 2025. His father, Dan Levy, said he saw his son see the loss of their Pallisard home in the fire house as an opportunity to connect with others.
“We all praised the love of our family and tried to make the most of our home,” he said. “In particular, Brown wanted to reach out to all his young classmates at high school and help them through experience.”
A memorial was held at Loyola High School on Saturday night. There, Brown was an outstanding student loved by his teachers and classmates. Hundreds of loved ones, friends and community members attended the public event.
“Brown was a shining presence in our Loyola family and brought light, joy and inspiration to everyone he touched,” Loyola High School principal Jamal K. Adams said in a message to the school community.
The teenage family said they plan to start a scholarship fund in his name. As for the suspect, she remains in custody without bail.
