The brothers will be making a statement in a prison interview last month after Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced last month that his office would no longer recommend respite after Barr was more than 30 years behind, TMZ announced Friday.
Labeled as “Prison Interview,” TMZ said he only spoke about his hopes of being released from prison with Brothers Menendez.
“My brother and I are cautiously hopeful,” Lyle Menendez said in a short clip shared on social media.
TMZ has promised that the show will feature his brother’s family and “detective who cracked the case.”
However, Resoler, a detective at the Beverly Hills Police Department, who was the lead investigator in the case, had firmly told NBC Los Angeles that he believes Jose and Kitty’s murders were “coldly calculated” by his brothers.
“Lyle is a cold guy, a boundary sociopath,” the detective said in a 2017 interview.
Zoller passed away in 2021.
This is not the first time the brothers have spoken from behind the bar. In an interview with NBC Los Angeles in 2017, the brother explained what he and his brother felt when they grew up in an abusive family.
“It was an emotional outburst at the time,” Lyle explained in 2017, emphasizing that what happened in August 1989 was the pinnacle of long-standing sexual and emotional abuse by his father.
The brothers may not be given a new trial or taken away from their sentence in Los Angeles County, but their lawyer, Mark Jelagos, wanted the state to give them generosity based on their life and actions in prison.
Lyle and Eric Menendez were scheduled to appear before the California parole hearing committee on June 13th.
