(Nexstar) – A former manager/public relations officer said that Sanford and one of their sons, Lyn Hamilton, has passed away. The retired actress was 95 years old.
Hamilton’s former manager/public relations officer Calvin Carson announced her death on Facebook and Instagram on Thursday. In the post he wrote: “What’s resolved: Lynn Hamilton transitioned to peace on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the age of 95, surrounded by his grandchildren, loved ones and caregivers.”

Hamilton, originally from Yazoo, Mississippi, received several acting credits, but she was best known for playing Fred Sanford’s fiance Donna Harris on the NBC sitcom, which ran between 1972 and 77 and lived in rebirth for decades.
In addition to “Sanford and his Son,” Hamilton appeared in the 1970-80s family drama “The Waltons,” and played a role in the 90s legal drama “The Practice” and the brandy Norwood-led sitcom “Moesha.”
Hamilton also starred in the short-lived NBC melodrama “Generations,” known for being the first to feature a black American family.
Hamilton’s final credited role discussed the life of black American actress Beah Richards in an interview with the 2003 documentary “Beah: A Black Woman Speaks.”
She is survived by her grandchildren and other close friends.
