The San Marino man faces the possibility of living behind the bar after being arrested in connection with the murder of his wife, whose body was found in a burning house earlier this year.
Yun Rai, 62, faces murder and arson charges in connection with the death of his wife, Irene Gorai, 56, on January 6th.
At the time, Rai called 911 to report the flames. Lt. Colonel Steve DeJohn, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, claimed the man had taken his sons to baseball practice and said he noticed his home was on fire upon his return.
The possible motive for the murder was not revealed.
“The violent death of Dr. Irene Golei is heartbreaking and deeply disturbing,” District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a statement. “She was not only a respected doctor and business leader, but a mother worthy of safety and dignity in her own home. We will not rest until the person responsible for this meaningless tragedy is fully accountable.”
Rye pleaded not guilty to the charges in his arrest Tuesday. He is being held on $2.2 million bail.
