The suspect was arrested for stealing a truck between a sleeping victim and a sleeping victim in a devastating pursuit in San Bernardino County.
The suspect was identified as Omar Hernandez, 49, of Lynwood, according to Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station.
On July 23, deputies responded to a call for help after the victim reported that the suspect had driven away in his truck while still sleeping in the attached camper van around 6:30pm
With the help of the sheriff’s aviation unit, they found a stolen truck and camper van at the intersection of Highway 395 and Seneca Road in Adelanto.
When the deputy tried to pull Hernandez, he allegedly refused to make a concession. During the pursuit, he was hit by four other vehicles. He eventually abandoned the truck and fled on foot, but was soon arrested by deputies.
He was detained for lures, theft of the vehicle and failed concessions. The victim was in a connected camper and was not injured.
No further details have been made as the incident remains under investigation.
