A man was arrested in 2019 for the ruthless murder of a teenager in the cathedral city, authorities announced Saturday.
The murder allegedly occurred on October 26, 2019, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, which is located inside the home in the 53,000 block of Avenida Madero.
Deputies were called to the residence at 12:03am for reporting a deadly weapon attack, and upon arrival, 19-year-old Anthony Carrillo was found suffering from several gunshot wounds inside the house. He was taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead.
The central murder squad arrived to investigate, but the suspect had already fled the scene.
“Unfortunately, after several years of investigation, the lawsuit has cooled down without arrest lead,” he elaborated on the sheriff’s release.
However, investigators later began a review, during which they found additional evidence and information that led them to resume the case. The suspect was identified as Jorge Furta Arias, a 24-year-old man from Whitewater.
The sheriff said authorities arrested Fuerta Arias on Friday, June 13 for their involvement in the 2019 incident and booked him at the COIS Bird Detention Center for the Homicide.
“This investigation is currently underway and no further information will be released at this time,” the department said.
Anyone with information about this investigation is encouraged to call Master Investigator J. Manjarrez or Master Investigator V. Magana, the Central Murder Unit at 951-955-2777.
