A man has been arrested for trying to carjack a Santa Ana garbage truck.
Footage of the attempted theft was released by Santa Ana Police on Tuesday, showing a male suspect approaching a Republic Waste Service truck parked outside a shopping plaza.
He is said to have quickly opened the passenger side door and threatened and blackmailed the driver by pretending to be carrying the weapon.

Fearing his safety, the driver quickly breaks out of the truck as the bystanders look worried. The suspect attempts to drive the truck away, but fails.
The officers eventually arrived at the shopping plaza and took the man into custody. He was arrested and booked at Santa Ana Prison for an attempted carjacking.
No further details, including his identity, were released by authorities.
