Police released surveillance footage Thursday of a man igniting two women, described as unprovoked attacks in a high altitude parking lot.
The incident occurred around 2am on April 26th, when two adult women left the business near Foothill Boulevard and Grove Avenue, driving through the parking lot and towards the exit.
At that moment, an unknown man suddenly approached the car, fired a gun into the air, turned his weapon at the victim, and fired multiple rounds at them.
A woman was hit in the leg, police said. The other was unharmed.
The shooter escaped at night and stayed for the entire weeks.
Investigators from the department’s special investigations department and the crime scene investigation team worked to gather and analyze evidence, ultimately identifying suspects in the case.
On July 9, with the assistance of a California Highway Patrol officer in Burstow, the suspect was intercepted and taken into custody during a traffic stop. Authorities said the firearm was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.
Police later served as a search warrant at the suspect’s home in Santa Ana, where he found additional evidence linking him to the shooting.
The suspect, whose identity was not released immediately, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
Upland police said the shooting was not entirely provoked and encouraged investigators to contact anyone with additional information.
