The 56-year-old man was charged Tuesday with fatal self-harmful behavior in a 13-year-old Irvine boy.
Christian Douglas Jaeger of Irvine was charged with three felony counts of child abuse and danger and criminal storage of a firearm, all felony and misdemeanor possession of an A.

Meanwhile, the shooting situation that occurred around 2:40pm on Thursday was under investigation.
According to Irvine Police Department spokesman Kyle Allelp, the teen was in the residence of two other boys near Culver Drive and Heather Green and Weepingwood, near the 405 highway where the shooting occurred. My teenagers didn’t live in the house.
One of the other boys was in the bedroom when the shooting occurred, while the other wasn’t, Oldoerp said. The gun used in the shooting was from Jager, who didn’t properly secure it, he said.
Jager wasn’t home at the time, but the family of an adult woman was there, Old Elp said.
Police recovered “mass unsecured firearms” registered with Jager at their home, Oldall said.
Investigators were working to determine whether the shooting was intentional or accidental.
My teenager was a student at Southlake Middle School. The eighth graders turned 14 on April 4th. Counselors were made available to school students and staff on Friday, police said.
Oldoerp highlighted the importance of gun safety and noted that the city offers gun locks for free.
“This is a sure reminder of the importance of securing firearms, because tragedy can be caused by illegally secured handguns,” Oldoerp said.
