The family of the man killed after being hit by two vehicles in Torrance is in ruins as the suspect’s driver remains large.
On April 19, 38-year-old Carlos Gonzalez tried to cross on foot at about 8:40pm on a vehicle as he was attacked by a vehicle.
The shock caused him to fall into the middle of a busy road. The suspect fled the scene. Dashcam’s video showed an approaching pickup truck finally stopped before he ran through Carlos and dragged his body under the car.
Leo Davis, a good Samaritan who found Carlos, quickly rushed to help him.
“It was a horrifying scene,” Davis said. “I never saw anyone lying on the street like that, and I left like that.”
Davis attempted life-saving measures against Carlos while awaiting paramedics’ arrival.

“He was stuck under the car by the time I got to him, so I cut him out from under the car,” Davis said. “I took off his jacket. I checked his aviation and checked his chest movements. I continued CPR until the police arrived.”
However, despite Davis’s quick action, Carlos was declared dead on the scene.
“Leo was someone who was here to help my brother before he passed away and just stay with him,” Carla said.
The first driver escaped, but the driver of the second vehicle remains on the scene and assists in the investigation. Police have not yet had an explanation of the suspect’s vehicle.
When Carlos’ friends and family lament the loss of his beloved brother and son, they hope that the driver who killed him will be captured soon.
Carlos’ girlfriend is a woman identified only as Brittany, and said everyone continues to be shocked to escape the scene of a fatal crime.
