Hours after graduation, I was fatally shot today in East LA, less than a block from Eastmont Middle School.
Authorities responded to the 500 block of Bradshaw Avenue around 12:30pm and investigated the shooting.
When deputies arrived they found an injured man lying in the driveway of the house. He was declared dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.
“I wasn’t paying attention to it because I really thought it was fireworks. Then five or six minutes later, when the sheriff’s deputies started listening to the sirens that had rolled up. “The bad thing is, my kids were out of school at the time, so I was busy around here.”
It was unclear what motivated the shooting, and there was no immediately available description of the suspect.
The victim’s name was withheld as relative notices were pending.
Anyone with information about the fatal shooting was urged to contact the Sheriff’s Murder Bureau at 323-890-5500. Scammers who like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
