The man shot and killed in Panorama City on Christmas Day has been identified as 33-year-old Samuel Ramirez.
Ramirez was a resident of Panorama City, according to the coroner’s office.
The shooting occurred around 8:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 8700 block of Cedros Avenue near the intersection of Parthenia Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard in the Mission Area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Ramirez was shot and killed during an argument with another man.
“The Hispanic male suspect and the victim got into an argument. During the altercation, the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim,” a department spokesperson said in a statement.
Police officials said they met with multiple citizens who found the victim lying on the sidewalk. The victim reportedly lived near the scene.
Witnesses reported hearing 15 to 20 gunshots and seeing a person they believed to be the suspect drive away.
Police said Ramirez died at the scene.
The perpetrator is on the run, but a detailed explanation has not been provided.
Police said it was unclear whether the shooting was gang-related.
