VAN NUYS, Calif. (KTLA) – An investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death on a Van Nuys street early Sunday morning, authorities said.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the 16100 block of Leadwell Street at Woodley Avenue around 5:30 a.m. for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
At the scene, police found the victim, described only as a “male, age unknown,” suffering from a single gunshot wound, officials said.
Medical personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to the hospital, where life-saving efforts were performed, but he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Video of the crime scene posted on the Citizen app showed a section of Leadwell Street cordoned off with yellow police tape, presumably while detectives worked to gather evidence.
At least one recreational vehicle with a dart board attached to its front bumper was parked on the curb, its top half covered by a heavily weathered tarp. On the sidewalk next to the RV, ladders, tables, and extension cords were strewn along the path.
It is unclear if the area was a homeless encampment or if the victims may have been living in an RV.
So far, no arrests have been made in the shooting, and no description of the possible suspect has been released, authorities said.
The identity of the deceased man is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
