Police were arrested Tuesday night in Palm Springs without injuries, according to a man suspected of threatening Walmart customers and employees before activating Taser towards responding officers.
Palm Springs Police Department, posted on Facebook Wednesday afternoon, was sent to the store shortly after 11pm for a call to a man armed with a knife that he had refused to leave.
“On arriving at the scene, officers found the suspect outside the store, identified as Jason Sandoval, carrying a knife, taser and pepper spray,” police said.
The caller indicated that Sandoval attempted to drain pepper spray inside the store, threatening customers and workers.

When authorities contacted Sandoval, he refused to follow the orders, “directing aggression towards the officers and activating Taser in their direction,” police said.
Officers used several tactics, including multiple taser deployments, a pepper ball launcher and a 40mm less lethal launcher. The K-9 units were also used to support containment efforts.
“Even as Sandoval continued to advance and threaten officers with an activated Taser, the reaction remained focused on subduing the suspects without causing any serious harm,” police said.
Sandoval was eventually sent to the ground by “appropriately timed Taser application” and was safely disarmed without being injured even if it remained in violation, police said.
Sandoval was arrested and booked for allegedly resisting an executive officer, robbery and felony possessing a stun gun.
