He was fatally shot in Whittier early Wednesday morning, probably in connection with an attempted armed robbery.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said a robbery was reported at 1:30am in the 13,500 block of Telegraph Road.
An armed man was in business there and the shot was fired before the man escaped in the car, but it is unclear exactly what happened, authorities said.
Footage from the scene shows that the business could be a cannabis clinic.
About 20 minutes later, a 32-year-old man was taken to a local hospital where he was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a second hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds. His identity has not been released.
“It’s not decided whether the gunshot wound victim is involved in the attempted robbery because it is in the early stages of the investigation,” the deputies said.
