Mandy Moore and her family were among the many people who had to evacuate their homes late Tuesday night as the devastating Eaton Fire swept through the Pasadena and Altadena areas.
“We evacuated with our children, dog and cat and are safe,” she wrote on her Instagram Story.
The “This Is Us” actress, her husband, musician Taylor Goldsmith, and their three children took shelter at a friend’s house. Moore said she tried to “protect my children from the immense sadness and worry” she was feeling.

“Praying for everyone in our beautiful city. So heartbroken by the destruction and loss,” she wrote in another slide on her Instagram Story. She also didn’t know if her house was still standing.
Hours later, she posted a heartbreaking video showing the destruction in Altadena.

“We love you, Altadena. Thank you to our family and pets for coming out last night before it was too late (and to our friends who took us in and brought clothes and blankets. “I’m so shocked and numb,” she wrote. “So many people have been lost, including my family.” “Our children’s schools are gone. Our favorite restaurants are gone. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything. Our community has been destroyed, but our We are here to rebuild together. Sending love to everyone affected and everyone on the front lines trying to get this under control. ”
Moore is one of many celebrities who have evacuated in the midst of wildfires burning parts of Southern California. In the Pacific Palisades, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mark Hamill and others were forced to evacuate their homes. The fire destroyed the homes of reality show “The Hills” stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag.
The Eaton Fire was first reported near Altadena Drive and Midwick Drive Tuesday night as hurricane-force Santa Ana winds blew through the area. As of Wednesday afternoon, the area had grown to more than 10,600 acres. Officials confirmed that five people died in the fire.
