A Huntington Beach man blew up a neighbor’s apartment with a shotgun on Wednesday morning, leading to a standoff before his final arrest.
The man whose name has not been made public by police fired several shots before 6:30am at the complex near the Pacific Coast Highway and Coral Caylane crossing, the Huntington Beach Police Department said in a news release.
The shooting struck “several adjacent units” leading to the evacuation of neighbors. PCH has also been temporarily closed in the area.
However, at about 7:50am, the man “subjugated peacefully and was taken into custody safely,” police said.
No one was injured, but my neighbor says I’m lucky that it was true.
One man told Ktla’s Chip Yost he was in the shower when the gun was fired.
“This is my bedroom window and this is where the bullet hit the window… the bullet went through my apartment and landed here at my door,” he said, emphasizing the damage to the glass hole and the door on the other side of his unit.
