(Nexstar) – Some people have the opportunity to see the Northern Lights on Sunday thanks to an eruption of solar materials collide with the Earth’s atmosphere.
NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Centre reported that a coronal hole highway river, or Ch HSS, was found on the sun on Friday. CH HSS can cause Earth’s magnetic storms to reach G1 or G2 levels.
The SWPC warned that lower-level geomagnetic storm conditions could appear on Earth on Tuesday or Wednesday, but some in the US could see the aurode on Sunday night if the conditions were correct.
This activity is connected to a fast coronary mass that left the sun on Friday, or to a CME. According to SWPC’s predictions, this CME could cause necessary activity in the atmosphere and make the northern US aurora visible

According to NASA, CMES fires Auroras by creating flows in the Earth’s magnetic field that sends particles to the North and Antarctic.
Current forecasts suggest that this CME will cause the strongest geomagnetic storm in the afternoon until late Sunday morning. However, mild geomagnetic storm conditions are expected to last until night. This may be enough for those closest to the Canadian border to see the Northern Lights.
The forecast below shows the areas where there is the best chance of catching the Aurora on Sunday. The red one has the best odds, while the green one has the lower odds. Areas above the red view line may allow you to see the aurora on the north horizon.

As always, the people most likely to catch the Aurora are in Canada and Alaska. Still, we got a glimpse of some of the 48 below. This includes the northeastern state of Montana in Washington, the northeastern state of Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, and the north of South Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Idaho, Iowa, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

However, this prediction can change over the days, depending on atmospheric activity. If conditions are strengthened, the aurora could appear further south. When they become weaker, there are fewer states where you may have the opportunity to see them.
You may have another chance to see the aurora in the middle of the week. SWPC’s three-day forecasts now show a minor geomagnetic storm return from Tuesday afternoon.
