Celebrities continue to speak out about federal immigration policies.
On Saturday, actor and host Mario Lopez shared a snippet for the Golden Girls episode of the 1987 Golden Girls episode called “Dorothy’s Creatures Students.”

“The episode was about friendship and inclusion, but also touched on the serious issues of deportation,” the alum wrote. “I am a first generation American and my parents have migrated from Mexico. I am forever grateful for their sacrifice… I am by the side of beautiful, rich and diverse immigrant communities from around the world.
In the episode, Dorothy, played by actress Bee Arthur, takes the young student played by Lopez under her wings and helps write the essay for the contest.
Lopez’s character wins the contest, but is later detained by immigration officers as his character is illegally located in the country.
“Immigration is what makes America beautiful… I have it all the time,” continued Lopez. “It’s indisputable. Choose kindness, compassion, humanity. We must be open to listening to everyone’s stories and journeys. God’s blessing.”

Since June 6, massive attacks by US immigration and customs enforcement agencies have been taking place in Los Angeles, California and other cities ordered by the Trump administration. The move protested the Golden State up and down. Tensions rose when President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard to the region against the wishes of government Gavin Newsom and La Mayor Karen Bass.
