The convicted Los Angeles County rapist is allegedly killed by fellow inmates over the weekend amid a surge in prison violence that claimed the lives of more than dozens of incarcerated men in California this year.
State prison officials said Lenny Rodriguez, 51, died Sunday in California Jail Los Angeles County after staff member Kenneth Wilson intervened at 7:15pm to use chemicals and non-lethal weapons to carry out life-saving measures, but Rodriguez, 51, died Sunday in California Jail Los Angeles County after Rodriguez stepped in and tried to take measures to save lives, according to the California Department Amendment.

Rodriguez’s death was a suspected second murder of the weekend, with the fifth reported this month. He is also suspected of being the 13th murder in a state prison this year. This is to get California back on track with more than 24 inmate murders that he reported last year, despite efforts to reduce violence by prison staff.
In March, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, or CDCR, began crackdowns at 11 high-security facilities, including Los Angeles County. At the time, there were seven suspects of murder being reported in the first nine weeks of the year.

“We recognize that amended programs will pose difficulties for our loved ones during these limited periods, but if a surge in violence at CDCR agencies threatens employees and incarcerated individuals, an increase in safety measures must be our priority.”
Though these restrictions were in place, staff conducted extensive searches of all residential areas and confiscated more than 850 contraband, including 166 improvised weapons, 159 mobile phones and 65 hypodermic needles, according to the CDCR.
Still, the violence continued.
The suspect inmate was reported at Mule Creek State Prison on April 4, at California Correctional Facility on April 5, and at Salinas Valley State Prison on April 8. It is also said that a prisoner was murdered on March 14th at Wasco State Prish, a facility that was not part of the crackdown.
William Counte died at High Desert State Jail in Lassen County on Saturday, two weeks after the restrictions ended, two weeks after the restrictions ended, according to the CDCR.
Brown is sentenced to life in prison for the second murder he earned while in prison. He was also convicted of physical injuries to his spouse, not a prisoner while in prison, but possessing a deadly weapon while in prison, state prison officials said.
Several other inmates suspected of this year’s murder are also serving life sentences. It highlights ongoing issues within the prison system.
David Gomez, who is suspected of being involved in Mario Campbell’s January 15 prison death, once reported to psychologists that the 2005 murder of a cellmate in Sacramento was already a “gift” in Monterey County Weekly.
According to the CDCR, Gomez’s co-conspirator in the attack, Cody Taylor is currently sentenced to life in prison for the previous murder of the inmate.
Authorities say Tyler Yates, another inmate who has been sentenced to life in Lockup in Sacramento, is under investigation due to allegedly involved in the murders of the two this year.
Last year he was convicted of first-degree murder while in prison.
