A graphic video that has become a virus on social media shows about seven or more masked men wearing US border patrol vests violently restraining Santa Ana’s father before shoving him into the back of an unmarked car on Saturday.

The violent incident sparked protests at the next hour, and an online fundraiser was launched through GoFundMe. There, the family identified the victim as Narciso Barranco, a Tustin resident.

One of his sons, 25-year-old Alejandro Barranco, told KTLA that his father sprayed peppers in addition to his repeated punches in his face while in custody. According to Alejandro, Narciso was greeted by a federal immigrant suspect while working as a landscaper at IHOP on Edinger Avenue and Richie Street.

A video shared by the Instagram account @Santaanaproblems shows a group of men wearing hats and face covering Narciso, holding him down while one man repeatedly bumps into his head. Some men are security guards standing around the scene before the group grabs Narciso again, with one man pushing him into the back seat of a silver SUV with a baton behind Narciso’s neck.

KTLA has reached out to city and state officials awaiting a response. A police spokesperson for Santa Ana said he was noted at the circulating video on social media, but there were no further details. No local or federal officials have ever confirmed with KTLA whether the masked man is a federal officer.

“He’s a good, hardworking man. He raised his family here and established himself here,” reads the Gofundme page. “Please help the Valenco family as much as you can so that you can receive appropriate legal counsel to represent him.” On Saturday evening, Alejandro was working in contact with his father.
