A massive fire caused the roof of a Denny’s restaurant in the City of Commerce to partially collapse early Monday morning.
A Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson confirmed the fire was reported just after 2 a.m. at the Denny’s, 7268 E. Gage Ave.

A Denny’s employee told KTLA that two people were inside the store at the time of the fire but were able to escape safely.
There were no customers inside the building and no one was injured.
Guests at the Best Western Plus, located on the same property, were temporarily evacuated from the building, some of whom said they heard the explosion.
Witness Marie Whiting described the scene.
“There were a lot of big orange flames coming out of the top… It took quite a while to get the flames out,” Whitting said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
