Maverick Democrat Sen. John Fetterman unraveled members of his own party on Thursday after suddenly supporting Elon Musk in a feud with President Donald Trump.
Democrats discovered an unlikely alliance in Musk this week, considering they rejected Trump’s “big and beautiful bill” and subsequent calls for Trump’s bluff each.
The president has defended legislation as fulfilling his major campaign promises, including border security, US energy production and tax cuts.
The Megaville is under consideration in both the Republican-led White House and Congress. But it’s facing hiccups in the Senate this week as Republicans, including Republicans who helped them pass through the House, showed they don’t support the bill in their current form. All House Democrats voted against the bill.

During the set-off, Musk threw a wrench into the Republican settlement process through a series of fiery posts on X, a platform he purchased in 2022. The Democrats were swayed by the GOP’s internal conflict despite his departmental rejection of Musk’s government’s effectiveness (Dughe); despite the GOP’s internal conflict.
In the first of several posts targeting the bill, Musk said, “Sorry, I can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting and hateful thing. It’s embarrassing to those who voted for it.
Fetterman, who built a reputation for defeating his party on issues such as immigration and support to Israel, promptly called for contradictions from his fellow Democrats on Thursday.

“Dems, we’ve dumped all over musks and destroyed Teslas and stuff, and now, all of a sudden, we might come back to him more,” Fetterman said.
Democrats launched a protest at Tesla dealers early in Trump’s second term. Tesla vehicles and dealers are again targeted this year in a series of violent attacks on the company, another business owned by Musk. Trump’s Justice Department has labeled the attack “domestic terrorism.”
And Pennsylvania Democrats said Musk was right to reject Trump’s megaville, but Fetterman said Thursday Democrats must decide what they think of Musk and stick to it.

“It wasn’t long ago that Tesla was like an accessory like a virtue signature from DEMS,” Fetterman said. “I wouldn’t want to destroy Teslas, and the “big and beautiful bill” is wrong for America. So, from my point of view, I tried to be consistent through it. ”
Rep. Ro Khanna of D-Calif was one Democrat this week who confirmed that Democrats should work with Musk on their shared goal of stopping Trump’s “big and beautiful bill.”

And GOP MP Tim Burchett piled up on criticism of Democrats’ contradictions and told Fox News Digital, “It’s ironic to me that Democrats hated Elon Musk’s courage a week ago…and now they’re based on everything they have with him.”
