Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced Tuesday that she will be taking part in a class action lawsuit to stop her saying that her city is an “unconstitutional, reckless attack in the LA area.”

Bass said Los Angeles is taking part in the lawsuit as the Trump administration deals with cities “as a test case of how far they can go when they can move forward on the political agenda while pushing the constitution aside.”

“The city of Los Angeles, along with counties, cities, organizations and Los Angeles, is taking the administration to court to stop any clear violations of the U.S. Constitution and federal law,” Bus said in a press release. “We are not threatened. We are modeling an example of how people who believe in American values can stand together and unite in Los Angeles.”

Los Angeles city lawyer Heidi Feldstein Soto said the lawsuit was intended to send the Trump administration a message that the city would not be a “standard operating procedure.”

“The federal government concentrates thousands of armed immigrant agents, many of whom lack visible identification, and the military has put unconstitutional assaults, roundups and anonymous detention in our communities, waking fear and confusion among residents.” “Today’s motion to intervene shows that we will not stand up and that these assaults will continue or become standard operating procedures for our communities.”

The coalition of individual immigration and immigration advocacy groups led by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in California has filed the original class action lawsuit, “Vasquez Perdomov. Noem.”

The nonprofit accused Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of carrying out unconstitutional assaults before maintaining immigration inhumane circumstances without beds and robbing food and lawyers. Homeland Security denied all claims in the lawsuit, stating that the racial profiling accusations were “disgusting and decisively false.”

The lawsuit also asks people being detained in currently overcrowded “dungeon-like” facilities, particularly when conditions are deplorable and unconstitutional.

The announcement comes just after a militarized vehicle deployed on a street filled with federal agents marching through MacArthur Park in Los Angeles and children attending summer camp.

A release from Bass’s Office suggested that the action was for “the seemingly sole purpose of bringing fear into Los Angeles.”

Bus said that she and other elected officials would not accept the presence of federal and military-style vehicles on the streets and use all available resources to put an end to what she characterized as a “reckless assault.”

Michael Dorgan of Fox News Digital contributed to this report.
