New York City Mayor Eric Adams and President-elect Trump met in Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday, three days before Trump returns to the White House.

“President Trump and I are committed to addressing New York’s needs, what is best for the city, and how the federal government can play a better role in improving the lives of New Yorkers,” Adams said in a statement shared by his press secretary, Fabian. We had some meaningful conversations about what we can accomplish.” Levy.

“We touched briefly on a number of issues, particularly the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas and how it will positively impact public safety in our country, and how we will bring manufacturing jobs to New York. “We focused on things like, can we bring it back? How can we continue to see federal investment in New York City, especially in the Bronx?”

The Democratic mayor, who is awaiting trial on federal corruption charges in April, said the pair’s legal issues were not discussed during the meeting.

As president, Trump will have the power to pardon Adams.

Adams is accused of receiving lavish travel benefits and illegal campaign contributions from foreign nationals in exchange for corrupt activities.

President Trump, who was found guilty last year in a New York court of falsifying business records, has previously defended Adams, arguing that the charges against the mayor may have stemmed from President Biden’s criticism of the border. .

President Trump said he would consider pardoning Adams.

“To be clear, we did not discuss my lawsuit. Citing inaccurate speculation or where we are from, the mayors of the nation’s largest cities met with the president-elect to discuss the city’s priorities. “Those who say we shouldn’t be talking about it, clearly the various political parties are more interested in politics than people,” Adams said.

“As always, I will take every opportunity to advocate for New Yorkers and our city. I strongly believe there is much the government can do together to create a stronger, more affordable organization. We appreciate President Trump’s time and attention and look forward to working with him to benefit all New Yorkers. I am. ”
