Menifie Mayor Ricky Estrada has been invited to active overseas military service for six months of deployment as a reserve for the US Air Force.
The mayoral development begins in October, bringing a temporary leadership change with Pro Bob Kerwin, who is assuming mayoral duties until Estrada returns.
“As the developments are underway, I will remain in touch with the city’s leadership and remain up to date with local activities,” Mayor Estrada said. “We look forward to continuing with all the great momentum our city has achieved when we come back six months later.”
Public services will not be interrupted, and the city government will continue to work during the mayor’s deployment, according to the city.
“The Menifee City Council is united in our support of Mayor Estrada and our service to our country,” Pro Calwin said. “Our city has a strong track record of supporting military service members and we hope the mayor is safe and successful.”
Estrada plans to resume mayoral duties when he returns from rollout in spring 2026.
