Local leaders in Los Angeles opposed citywide immigration enforcement work during a press conference Tuesday afternoon.
LA City Attorney Heidifeldsteinsoto, along with cities in Los Angeles County and Pasadena, Santa Monica, Culver City, Pico Rivera, Montebello, Monterey Park and West Hollywood, has announced that President Donald Trump has filed a move to intervene in a federal lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump on June 30.
The federal lawsuit alleges that the city is creating an environment with a sanctuary policy that obstructs immigration law enforcement and prohibits local police from sharing information about people without legal status, The Associated Press reported.
A statement from Feldsteinsoto regarding a motion to intervene in the lawsuit will be read in part.
“The lawsuit calls on the court to prevent the federal government, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs Border Protection (CBP), attorneys.”
Since June 6th, federal immigrant raids have been taking place in major Los Angeles cities and surrounding cities.

Similar federal lawsuits have been filed against other sanctuary jurisdictions, including New York, New Jersey and Colorado, restricting cooperation with federal immigration authorities, the Associated Press reported.
