They are the kind of headlines that are likely to bring fear to Democrats not only in New York City, but across the country.
Since his astonishing victory in the New York City Democratic primary two weeks ago, the mayoral Democratic primary has surfaced a story about the past of democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani.
Among the items that are viral are reports of photos posted online by Mamdani in 2020. This shows that he is turning through the statue of Christopher Columbus. The story of Mamdani’s comments last December comes from a recent cable news interview that “there are a lot of criticism of capitalism” when he said he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netayahu.
Mamdani’s double-digit victory over former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and nine other candidates last month has rocked the Democrats, fueling the already existing internal divisions during the party’s progressive and moderate wings.

A more moderate Democrat has put his victory in panic mode, saying that it is a “clear rejection of the old security guard” by many progressives cheering for Mamdani’s victory on what his victory means for the party.
And Mamdani’s main performance has heightened the fear of winning a general election by a 33-year-old Ugandan-born state legislator from Queens.
Mamdani’s professor father claimed Hitler, inspired by Abraham Lincoln.
Since his main victory, Republicans have mercilessly portrayed Mamdani as an extremist, pinning him to Democrats around the country ahead of next year’s midterm elections.
The attacks have escalated from the campaign’s down vote to the White House, with President Donald Trump claiming that Mamdani is “100% communist madman.”
Amid a headline focused on Mamdani and barrage of political rhetoric, some of his rivals have contemplated plans to join forces in the general election to derail him.

Cuomo has lost the Democratic mayoral appointment to Mamdani, but he is running as an independent vote in November.
And amid a lot of controversy, Democratic mayor Eric Adams, who dropped his main bid earlier this year, is calling for re-election as independence.
Also in the general election vote will be Jim Walden, an independent federal prosecutor, and Curtis Swawa, co-founder of the Guardian Angels.
Last week, Walden proposed that independent research should be conducted to see which candidates are the strongest candidates to take on the mum tick.

Mamdani is a clear frontline in the general election in cities where Democrats surpass Republicans by about 6-1 margin, thanks to his main victory.
Walden on Monday in an interview with Fox News Radio’s “Fox and Jimmy Fila across America,” said Mamdani’s victory in November would be “a terrible for the city and would set back a generation as a whole,” so he proposed a vote in late September or early October.
“If the candidate agrees to this, we will all agree to the polls that will occur and will be the winner,” he said.
Cuomo’s senior advisor Rich Azopaldi supported the idea by saying Walden “guarantees that Mayor Adams and Governor Cuomo will ensure that everything will guarantee a socialist victory if they all run,” suggesting a fair, independent investigation in September to determine whether New York’s candidacy and vision is the strongest in one race in November.
Mamdani unified the left in the final weeks before the Primary, backed by support from New York progressive heavyweight Sen. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Vermont Sen. Berny Sanders, but his democratic rivals are united.
“I think Andrew and Curtis should gather behind me. I won as mayor. You know, I’m the only person in this race that I’ve won as mayor,” Adams said Monday at a press conference.

And in an interview with CNBC, Adams said in a recent conversation that the former governor asked him to come aside.
“I said, ‘Andrew, are you that rog haughty level? I’m the mayor sitting in!” Adams said of his conversation with Cuomo. “I’m the mayor of New York City who just lost to Zoran with 12 points.”
Adams’ polls sank before he was charged with five counts last year. This denounced the mayor of bribery and fraud as part of a “long-term” scheme to personally benefit from contact with foreigners.
These Democrats don’t support Mamdani, but they defend him from Trump
The mayor repeatedly overtured President Donald Trump, and the Justice Department dismissed the corruption charges earlier this year, so Adams could work with the Trump administration in oppression of illegal immigration.
“Mayor Adams didn’t run in the Democratic primary because he knew he was paralyzed for Democrats.
Mamdani surged to major victories thanks to an energetic campaign focused on affordable prices and high cost of living in New York City.
Mamdani has made smart use of social media platforms, including Tiktok. He proposed eliminating fares for taking New York City’s vast bus system, creating rent to freeze Cuny (City University in New York) into “tuition-free” city homes, providing “free childcare” for children up to five years old, and establishing a government-run grocery store.
And thanks to some of the efforts of the large grassroots military of volunteers, he took first place, riding a wave of support from young, progressive voters.
And when Democrats lost control of the White House and Senate and failed to regain a majority in the House, it reignited debate over whether party policies or messages would be held responsible for whether they would blame the election setback last November.
Stephanie Taylor, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, told Fox News that Mamdani’s “winning shows that a new direction for the Democrats is possible.”

Matt Bennett, executive vice president of the medium democratic group, admitted in the third way that Mamdani is “focusing on affordability.”
Bennett added that Mamdani is “young, charismatic, a great communicator. Everything is amazing. We want to see it.”
But Bennett told Fox News, “The problem is he has the wrong prescription.”
