President Donald Trump’s new deadline for Russia to end the conflict with Ukraine is an additional “step into war,” according to former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Medvedev, now vice-chairman of the Russian Security Council, warned that Trump’s announcement that Russia must end its conflict with Ukraine in the 10-12th day will not end well for the United States.

“Trump is playing an ultimatum game with Russia: 50 days or 10… he should remember two things: 1. Russia is not Israel or even Iran. 2. Each new ultimate is a threat, a step into war. “Don’t go down the sleepy Joe Road!”

On February 23, 2024, Deputy Chief of Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev will be taking part in the tomb of unknown soldiers by the Kremlin Wall in Moscow, marking the defenders of Motherland Day.

Trump announced on July 14 that he would sign off for “serious tariffs” on Russia if Moscow fails to agree to the peace deal within 50 days, but Trump said on Monday it was useless to wait that period amidst the stalling of negotiations.

“From today we plan to have a new deadline from around 10-12,” Trump told reporters in Scotland. “There’s no reason to wait. It was 50 days. I wanted to be generous, but I don’t think progress is right.”

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Trump’s remarks come as frustration with Putin has risen in recent weeks, one day after Russia launched more than 300 drones, four cruise missiles and three ballistic missiles in Ukraine.

Trump called for Putin by providing lip service during their discussions while not taking any active steps to end the war. As a result, Trump said he was “disappointed” with the Russian leader and grew up with Putin “not much interest in talking about it anymore.”

“He talks – we have such a lovely conversation, a very good respect and a lovely conversation, and people die the next night,” Trump said Monday.

Following Trump’s announcement of the peace deal’s deadline, Ukrainian President Voldime Zelenkie thanked Trump for “an articulating a clear stance and determination to resolve the conflict.”

“We are grateful that President Trump has focused on saving his life and stopping this horrible war,” Zelensky said in a post on X on Monday. “Ukraine is committed to peace and we will work tirelessly with the United States to make our nations safer, stronger and more prosperous.”

Zelenskyy thanked Trump in America for supporting Ukraine after Vance’s jab about his lack of gratitude.

Zelenskyy was previously scrutinized by Vice President JD Vance in February at an oval office meeting for not appreciating the US support for Kyiv in the fight against Moscow.

Trump has historically boasted of building solid relationships with Putin, but he has publicly expressed an increase in frustration with Putin over the past few weeks as the war intensified between Russia and Ukraine.

“We get a lot of bulls — we’ve been thrown into us with Putin. If you want to know the truth,” Trump said at the Cabinet meeting on July 8th.
