Friends of Big Bear Valley has announced the names of two newest bald eagles in the mountains, Sunny and Gizmo.
I hatched in early March and is a descendant of Jackie and Shadow, the famous bald eagle couple from Big Bear.
Friends of Big Bear Valley revealed his name late Tuesday afternoon through a Facebook post.
After a naming contest that received over 54,000 entries, the list was narrowed down to 30.
“Meet Sunny and Gizmo,” the nonprofit said in a Facebook post. “After a great but long process of choosing the adorable chicks of Jackie and Shadow, the bigger chick is now named Sunny and the little one is named Gizmo.”
The winners of the contest will be contacted by the group next week and will be given a certificate of recognition. There were multiple winners as the names were submitted by different people.
There was a third eagle hatched with Sunny and Gizmo, but their names were not part of the contest. Baby Eagle did not survive the snowstorm last month. The Eaglet was named Misty by the Friends of Big Bear Valley in Big Bear Valley in honor of Katy Mr.
