Christmas could come early this year for those who play Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot, worth an estimated $970 million.
Lottery organizers say the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302 million, with the last jackpot won for $810 million on September 10 in Texas.
Tuesday’s drawing is at 8pm Pacific Time.
If there’s a winner on Tuesday, they’ll take home a piece of the seventh-largest prize in Mega Millions history. Just three tickets won the Mega Millions jackpot this year, the lowest number since the multi-state game began in 2002.
In the game’s history, there have been 13 jackpot winners in December, but only one winning ticket was on Christmas Eve in 2002. The lottery said the winning ticket was sold in New York for a $68 million prize and was ultimately never claimed. Organizer.

Las Palmitas Mini Market in downtown Los Angeles sold a winning ticket for a $1.08 billion prize in June 2023.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, DC, and the US Virgin Islands.
Mega Millions ticket prices will rise to $5 in April, which game organizers say will increase the odds of winning, but details have not yet been released.
