Jordan appeared in the Chicago Bulls throughout the 1990s when NBC aired NBA games. NBC was home to the NBA Finals from 1991 to 2002, with the Jordanian Bulls winning six titles over that period.
The announcement came on Monday at an early NBCU presentation. Composer John Tesh took to the stage for his iconic “Round Ball Rock” jingle live performance before a video message was received from Jordan.
“I’m very excited to see NBC come back with NBC,” Jordan said. “The NBA at NBC is a meaningful part of my career and I am excited to be a special contributor to the project. I look forward to seeing you all when the NBA starts this October.”
NBA coverage will return to NBC next season as part of a new media rights deal, with games and television broadcasts also available for streaming on the Peacock. This is the first time the league has joined NBC since 2002.
NBC has made several announcements for coverage of next season, including Carmelo Anthony, Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller joining the network. Mike Tillico and Noah Eagle have been revealed as play-by-play announcers, and more recruitment is expected to be shared over the coming months.
