The Hollywood Walk of Famestar was announced on Tuesday for actor Mindy Kaling, the star of “The Office” and “The Mindy Project.”
Kaling’s Star is located at 6533 Hollywood Blvd., 2 West Block of Cahuenga Boulevard. The ceremony with fellow writer, producer and cast member BJ Novak from “The Office” came nine days before the premiere of “Running Point” on Netflix.
Kaling is the show’s co-creator and executive producer, described by Netflix as “a bold twist in underdog comedy.” Shaw stars Kate Hudson as the newly appointed president of one of the most renowned professional basketball franchises, Los Angeles Waves, after the scandal left his brother.
Kaling graduated from Dartmouth in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Playwriting. She portrayed Ben Affleck in the off-Broadway play “Matt & Ben,” which she co-wrote with her college best friend Brenda Withers, who played Matt Damon.
Kaling was hired in 2004 at the age of 24 as a writer and performer of the NBC comedy The Office. During his eight seasons in “The Office,” Kaling wrote 23 episodes, far more than other writers.
In 2010, Kaling became the first woman of color to receive outstanding writing, nominated for an Emmy Award for the Comedy Series. She was also one of the producers of five outstanding comedy series Emmy Award nominated shows.
Kaling starred as obstetrician and gynecologist/gynecologist Mindy Lahiri. This was a role inspired by an obstetrician/gynecologist and an executive producer in the romantic comedy she created, The Mindy Project. It has been run on Fox from 2012-15, and on Netflix from 2015-17. Kaling wrote 24 of 117 episodes.
She co-created the comedy drama “I’ve never been.” She said it was based on “my childhood spirit” and streamed to Netflix from 2020 to 2023. She was also the co-creator of the comedy “The Sex. Life of College Girls, which ended its third season with HBO Max last month.”
