Volunteer rescue groups and law enforcement officials found that the 36-year-old Sacramento woman and her young daughter were submerged under the bridge Sunday morning after she went missing after the appointment of a doctor.
Whisper Owen and her eight-month-old daughter, Sundraccati, were last seen in Atwater on July 15th on her way back from the appointment of the Doctor. The search ended on a tragic Sunday when Owen and her daughter were found “pinned under the bridge” inside the truck.
“She was doing everything she could as a mother to try to save her daughter Sandra,” Post said of Owen.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that both Owen and her daughter’s bodies were found in a 2006 Chevrolet Rail Blazer car. The vehicle was found near Highway 120 and Victory Avenue in San Joaquin County, the statement read.
Fresno police previously said they had no doubts of a foul play on a loss-disappearance. The California Highway Patrol is investigating how the vehicle was submerged, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department.
Owen and her daughter left Sacramento around 4am on July 15th and headed south to Fresno to appoint a baby doctor. According to Owen’s mother Vicki Torres, Owen stopped at her mother’s house and changed her child’s diaper before checking in for her reservation at 8:30am.
Owen visited the brothers and before 5pm her silver pioneer was detected by Atwater licensing board readers at 8am that night, authorities said.
The mother and daughter were last spotted on security footage from a smoke shop in Atwater where they captured Owen’s parking lot and changed Sandra’s diaper around 7:30pm, police said.
As the family and authorities were searching for the pair, Vicki Torres told The Times:
