The 12-year-old from Houston brings a musical touch to an animal shelter in Orange County.
The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center is launching Wild Tunes, a non-profit program launched by Yuvi Agarwal, a young musician who believes that live music can help stressed shelter animals become more secure and adoptable.
The program officially begins at noon on Tuesday, August 5th at the shelter Hillcrest location.
Founded by Agarwal in Texas, Wild Tunes has the idea that volunteer musicians and singers can join to play for the shelter animals, and that soft melody and live music can create a calm environment. The goal is for animals to build positive associations with humans, become more comfortable and more likely to be adopted.

“Music has the power to calm, connect and heal,” said Agarwal, an avid animal lover who plays multiple instruments. “When pets are exposed to music on a daily basis, it helps them become more comfortable around humans and ultimately increases the chances of finding an eternal home.”
Officials at Mission Viejo said the program will benefit people such as shelter staff and volunteers.
“We look forward to partnering with Wild Tune to showcase new enrichment with music that could improve the animal experience, improve staff well-being and enhance volunteer engagement.” The Centre is currently recruiting musicians and singers of all levels to participate. To volunteer, go online or call 949-470-3045. The shelter is located at 28095 Hillcrest, Mission Viejo.
