MLB and Nielsen reported on Tuesday that MLB and Nielsen saw double-digit increases in major league baseball viewers in the US and Japan during the first two months of the season.
ESPN coverage has increased by 22%, with an average of 1.74 million viewers. It’s the most viewed season on ESPN in its first two months since 2017.
This may be last year when ESPN is carrying baseball after opting out of that rights trade in February.
TBS’s MLB Tuesday packages are up 16%. Fox Sports has grown by 10%, with an average of 1.84 million viewers per game.
Last Saturday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 18-2 route by the New York Yankees by the Dodgers averaged 2.2 million at Fox.
The MLB.TV streaming package has seen viewers rise by 27%, with over 7.5 billion minutes of viewing until Monday.
The average number of games on the NHK channel in Japan is 2.7 million. The average does not include Tokyo Series games between the Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs, which began the regular season.
With the audience growing annually since 2021, MLB’s most viewed regular season ratings are at pace.
MLB.TV has seen a 27% increase in streaming viewerships in 2024. This was the most viewed season in the service’s history. For games up until Monday, June 2nd, MLB.TV has watched more than 7.5 billion minutes this season.
