One of the biggest stars of football, Mohamed Sarah, has criticised the governing body in Europe in honor of Suleiman Al-Oud, known as “Palestine Football Pere.”

According to the Palestinian Football Association (PFA), 41-year-old Al Obaid was killed in an Israeli shooting on Wednesday.

“Farewell to Suleiman al-Obeid, Pere of Palestinian,” the European Union of Football Associations said in a post in X that “the talent that gave countless children hope, even in the darkest times.

“Can you tell me how he died, where and why?” Sarah, the forward for Premier League Club Liverpool and captain of the Egyptian national team, responded.

UEFA did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Sunday.

Salah, 33, is a defender of the voices for the rise in humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the United Nations and other international experts say they are on the brink of hunger for 22 months in Israel’s war with Hamas, which controls an enclave of around 2 million people.

Finding food has become more difficult and fatal for Palestinians since late May, when the American and Israeli-supported Gaza Humanitarian Foundation took over the distribution of aid after Israel lifted its two and a half months of lockdown.

Around 1,400 Palestinians were killed while seeking food aid. This is mostly in the hands of Israeli military, the United Nations says. Israeli military says it won’t target civilians.

Sarah is not the only football star to talk about the circumstances of Al Obeid’s death.

Eric Cantona, a former professional footballer from France who was a Manchester United forward, paid tribute to Instagram along with a photo of Al Obid, asking, “How long will we be able to make this genocide last?”

Israel argues it is fighting an existential war and rejects the genocide allegation as anti-Semitic.

On Saturday, the PFA shared a statement attributed to UEFA President Alexander Ceferin, celebrating Al-Oud for giving “talents and dedication to the children of Gaza” and the dream of “wanting to blossom despite their suffering.”

Al-Obeid scored over 100 goals in his long career, including two of the Palestinian national teams, “has become one of the brightest stars of Palestinian football,” the PFA said.

He is survived by his wife and five children.

PFA I said in x On Saturday, 325 players, coaches, managers, referees and club officials from the Palestinian football community were killed in the conflict.

More than 61,000 people have been killed in Gaza, including thousands of children, but much of the territory is in abandoned.

Israel launched its attack after the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023. Meanwhile, Hamas-led militants killed around 1,200 people and took 251 hostages. Of the 50 remaining hostages in Gaza, Israel believes 20 are still alive.

The “worst-scenario of hunger” is being deployed in the Gaza Strip under Israeli attacks, and the integrated food security stage classification states.
