A large number of people looted the store early Monday morning during a street takeover in Long Beach.

Preliminary information shows that the acquisition was first reported around 1am near Orange Avenue and Harding Street.

Videos from the scene show one car doing some donuts as the crowd grows. By the time police arrived at the scene, the crowd was already beginning to disperse, and one of the burnout vehicles was seen leaving the area.

While the street takeover took place, a group of people smashed glass storefronts into J&G Market, located at the corner of Orange and Harding, and according to initial reports, they began looting the store.

Video footage recorded in the aftermath of the loot shows broken glass and goods scattered across the front of the store and inside it.

Talking to Erin Myers of KTLA 5, the business owner said that this hasn’t happened before in all years of market ownership. It was not immediately clear how many items had been photographed, but it seemed as if “dozens” of people had swarmed into the store amidst a fuss.

A nearby resident detailed that such incidents affect everyone, including the police officers they responded to.

“I think there are a lot of people… you can’t even go through, and sometimes the police can’t even go through,” Marty Johnson said. “They block all traffic [do that]the people here can’t pass through. ”

No further details surrounding the incident were provided by the Long Beach Police Department.
