Mama Bear and her fluffy child were seen escaping the heat in the backyard pool in the San Gabriel Valley family on Friday afternoon. This is a heartwarming wildlife encounter for homeowners.
The sightings occur around noon in Monrovia, and residents say that the bear visits are a regular part of their lives. However, this visit was particularly adorable. Because this particular bear was the first time it was marked that she had brought her young turnip.
“We regularly see the Bears, but this is the first time this Mama Bear and her Cub have been in our pool,” the homeowner told KTLA. “It’s so cute, we wanted to share it.”
A video shared with KTLA shows her tagged mother (known neighborhood visitors) enjoying the cold water, but her more hesitant turnip stayed by the poolside. After a bit of relaxation, the pair climbed a nearby avocado tree for a snack.

“We’ll let them do their things and not cause any problems for them,” the resident added.
Bear sightings in the Foothill neighborhoods in Southern California have become more frequent, especially during the warm months when wildlife seeks water and food sources in residential areas.
Wildlife experts remind the public to secure trash, avoid feeding wildlife, and maintain a safe distance when encounters occur.
