Immigration advocacy groups say that as they continue to grasp the immigrant community in Los Angeles amid ongoing immigrant enforcement projects, there are frequent and widespread ice attacks in the Greater Los Angeles area and the Humanitarian Immigration Rights Coalition (Chrla) in Southern California.
The group has run a rapid response network where community members can alert each other about ice sightings and activities through hotlines since the Trump administration began escalating rhetoric and enforcement on immigration.
Based on grassroots efforts, the rapid response network is reporting more raids in a variety of public places, according to Chirla’s executive director Angelica Salas.
“The increase in front of the school (raids). We get reports from hospitals and churches,” Salsa said. “They’re not just in the city of Los Angeles. They’re in Whittier. They’re in Downey. They’re in every adjacent city, in the city of the region.”

In the Eastla area, National Guard and FBI agents arrived in flash bangs and explosions around 6am on Thursday.
“I see them raiding two doors here and I see them coming and going. They pulled out one person I could see,” the neighbor shared what he had seen. There was no confirmation whether the detention was part of the attack.
The uneasy experiences shared by undocumented immigrants and their families force people to restrict external activities, Bass said, adding that he still has no words on how long the attack will last in the city.
“None of us here knows how long the raids will last. We’re all working from rumors,” the mayor said. “I think the latest rumors are going to last for 30 days. The rumors may be here for 60 days. The final line doesn’t need 30, 20 or 60 days.”
